The detail
Race day, rule by rule.
What is the race event schedule?
Saturday is the OPEN practice day. Sunday is race day. All electric classes run 3 x 9-minute races (best 2 of 3 count). Nitro Truggy runs 3 x 15-minute mains. Nitro Buggy runs 3 x 20 minutes (A) and 3 x 15 minutes (B), best 2 of 3 to count.
How are triple mains and tie-breakers decided?
The final result is the best combined finishing positions. The tie-breaker is the best single finishing position (1-3 beats 2-2). If there is still a tie, the laps and time from the best finishing-position run decide it. Electric classes follow the IFMAR settings in the LiveTime scoring engine.
What are the SPEC tyre rules?
6MIK SPEC tyres are compulsory in both Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and are available exclusively at the track shop. Sold in sets of 4, factory pre-glued or loose rubber; pre-order your rim colour (white, yellow or coral red) at least 4 weeks before the event. We may change the pattern or compound during the season and will tell drivers a month before the next championship event. Any driver found not using the SPEC tyre is disqualified from the event immediately.
How are class and championship points awarded?
Class points: 1st = 100, 2nd = 98, 3rd = 96, 4th = 95, 5th = 94, then descending by single points. The RCX Championship has 5 rounds; your best 3 rounds count for the final standings.
What are the awards?
Event awards go to the top 3 in each class, with special awards for Junior Driver of the Day, Driver of the Day and the Pit Crew Award. Year-end RCX Championship Series awards go to the top 5 in each class.
What if a round is removed or a main is shortened?
If a round is removed and two rounds are complete, the best single round counts for the event result. If fewer than 4 cars (or under 30% of the grid) are left in a race and over 60% of the distance is done, the race director may — with the drivers’ confirmation — shorten the race; the result is the running order at that time.
Can classes be combined?
If a class has too few entries, the event director may combine two classes in the same heat or race. Class results and championship points are not affected.
What happens if the weather stops racing?
If a race cannot be completed and more than 60% was run, points are awarded on the standings at that time. Below 60%, the result is the last completed race in the event, be that a Super Pole or qualifying race. At least one race must be completed for points to be awarded.
How do I protest a result?
Scoring uses AMB decoders with LiveTime software; Race Control, the Race Referee and Race Directors are appointed by RCX Raceway. Raise any concern with Race Control directly after your race (you or one of your pit crew). Your transponder working, returning to the right lane and direction after a crash, and crossing the transponder line each lap are the driver’s responsibility. All protests are concluded before prize-giving — none are entertained afterwards.
